christopheraser interesting. I run VR too and have wondered if upgrading my 6600K would even be worth it. Seems like you found a good boost in performance from the i7? I run a 1080Ti so graphics should be good to go, but I've always found the i5 enough for anything I've wanted to run. That was before I got the Rift though. I'd be interested to hear more on your thoughts on it. Well I think that the 8700k is overkill for rf2 and almost anything I do right now. I lucked into the CPU at a great price and built a new system around it. I am not really sure how much my previous cpu was struggling with rf2 and vr at the same time, not to mention how much rf2 may have improved in that department since my last full race.

Just my 2c, I’m running 3570k & 970 and it runs the rift fine. Wasn’t always this way, rf2 was optimised a lot. Was going to upgrade the pc but I’m putting that money into a new wheel instead.

Yeah my previous CPU was the 3570K. I had dual 970's with it, too. I've never owned an i7 variant as the i5 was always the sweet spot for gaming. Getting the best GPU you could afford was always the better option.

My stock i5-7500 cpu runs between 60% 70% with Rf2 full graphics and 20 AI driving round I've got the cpu display on my dash.

My i5-4690 was fine with RF2 until I added VR ontop, from that point onwards I would get stutters and freezes almost always coinciding with 100% CPU usage. Although it may have changed now as S397 have done a lot of work too optimise Rf2 in VR. If I could be bothered I would re-install rf2 on my old machine and test it out, but that ain't happening
