Was going to see if I was up to racing again, but even though I haven't touched rF2 for about a month can't get it to run. Weather off-line or on-line I can enter game, pick a car and track but as soon as I hit Race it goes to the track loading screen and just locks up there, wont load the track and if I do the ctrl/alt/del get a screen saying rF2 has stopped working. Have done a "check integrity of local files" and its all OK there. So did an un-install in Steam and re-installed it but get the same result. Only thing I can think of is, it would only ever run in 32 bit and was wondering if there was an upgrade recently that wont let it run in 32 bit. Any ideas?
Have just re-installed video drivers and that made no difference.

Hmm sounds bad. What you've done sounds fair enough, but before you did the reinstall I would have cleared the Shaders & Cbash files. So with the uninstall/install did you put it in the same dir or did you change that? I would have gone to a new dir and start fresh. It should run in 64bit, I assume your pc is on a 64bit OS
Also make it log all your starts so you can send them to S397 I don't think it would be your video drivers but when you do update them make sure you remove the old ones with DDU (DisplayDriverUninstaller) SS

Hello Gwyar, Had the same thing happen on my rf2 install recently. I installed the 1112 update on an 1110 installation. Thought it would pickup 1111 - nope! Had to rollback to last working version, ie 1110 in my case, install 1111 then 1112. See beta updates in your Steam properties. After each update run the game to make sure it is working okay before going on to the next one.

Got a feeling that SS might be on the right track because even though I uninstalled it thru Steam, then went thru my directories and deleted every rF2 thing I could find, when I reinstalled and started it up again all my settings had stayed the same, or is that info somehow stored on Steam. What do I delete to remove all settings? re 64bit, I do have 64 bit Windows 7 installed but something is wrong there as Assetto Corsa won't run in 64 bit mode either.

I uninstalled and did a clean install as well. But that did not work, it reinstalled the failed, patched in the incorrect order, version. Do you know the last version of rf2 that worked okay? Very easy to do and worth a try I suggest. Steam - RF2 - right click, Properties, Beta - select 1108 and go from there.

Steam Dose do a backup of your userdata folder im not sure how much of it etc. onli noticed it because my setups were saved if ac isnt stating either could it be ur windows install have you reinstalled win? i know its aids but it has helped me in the past.
steam cloud i think is what saved the data you can opt out of it in an option somewhere for each game you have. im not sure if this will stop it adding already saved items to a reinstall id !guess! yes.

AC is still working fine although I have a bad feeling that a Win7 reinstall may be necessary, could fix the 32 bit problem, although lots of other stuff runs fine in 64 bit, although AC won't either.

If your going to go down the reinstall path again then it's best to backup your userdata folder & your packages folder. Then you need to install in a different folder so that it's all fresh.
However if you can upgrade your OS from win 7, maybe go to win 10 64, if your system is up to it. You can get a cheap fresh legit install if you want too. (msg me if you need details) With a new winblows install everything will be faster again but it's a pain in da ass to do it all again to have no 64bit still. You'll get better quality graffix and it should run better in 64 as well. But it'll be weather your system is up to scratch, so check your specs before you decide to got for broke. SS

Just on the reinstalling thing, when you uninstall and reinstall it doesn't really do anything if there is a bad setting or file lying around in one of the documents folders, not included in the actual steam library installation folder. There are hidden folders like APP DATA in the USER folders and DOCUMENTS holders that may be holding settings and graphics options even if the actual game is uninstalled. Getting rid of these will help with getting a real clean install of the game.
Of course if you decide to format completely, this takes care of it for you. But that's why a lot of cases are solved by doing a format and clean install of Windows. It's just that it's able to completely remove the folders and files you may have missed while hunting down the cause of a problem.

Hi Grant, check to see if you have this file "d3d9.dll" in the Bin32 and Bin64 folders, if its there delete it. I had a similar problem and it fixed it. Heres a thread from S397 Forum, link
The only other thing I would try is remove Or just delete all your json files within your user data folder and let game rewrite these files again see how that goes..... Good luck
