I got home today and got all setup for trying the beta version, followed through all the steps (Info - www.studio-397.com/2017/05/open-beta-with-directx-11-and-virtual-reality-support/ ) Loaded up the Indycar at Silverstone and my initial thoughts were it looks a bit better, but once I had driven round a little started to notice all the new lighting effects (I have my post effects set at HIGH) the other vehicles shined in the sun, the puff's of smoke looked better in general a pretty good step forward IMO. The replays are much better to, I think the reflections has improved the most, and the track side objects seem to stand out more, look more 3D. Dropped about 50fps from a steady 150 at most tracks pre dx11. But I'm sure that will improve after all this is just a beta version. That's about after an hour without any crashes or any issues as yet. So far though i'm impressed with the step forward BTW PC Specs i5 3.4G 16GB GTX1080 8GB InGame settings All Max expt Shadows on high

Basically agree with Cambo, certainly an improvement if you have the hardware to take advantage of it, I've dropped about 50 fps on the grid at start of race, so even with my new PC, I will have to turn things down a bit, from everything maxed out. Artificial light and some reflections are just over the top with post process effects on, even on low it's a bit too much, too bright and glary. Gonna take a fair bit of tweaking to get it running smooth again.

Thanks Cambo. Now it starts OK, but just before the track finishes loading I get a runtime error. Might wait to the proper release.

had to work on my settings a fair bit and for my current card r9 290 3gb it struggles with fps. tweaked again. pp on low, AA4 ,shadows low. blur off, reflection low in environment and off for track .. the BT44 at silverstone 0500 am start and wow. couldnt drive properly as I was taking in all the effects . going to be bloody awesome once refined.. and a new card or pc. edit: did some tuning. shadows make the biggest hit for me. with them turned off and special effects at low I can run PP.Ultra. everything in game at Full, including reflection both track and enviro . AA16 and get very acceptable fps at silverstone in the bt44 . not the 100's by any stretch of the imagination but quite steady 40/50.. Ive either got used to it or am about to be amazed when I get my 144's back track loading times as well are much better with DX11( after initial load after shaders and cbash re write)

I haven't tried it yet but have read deleting your .json file (so it creates a new one automatically) can help improve FPS. If you do do this, make sure you keep a copy of your origina .json.

in testing if you don't use virtual mirrors it helps gain another 5/10fps as well.. some hot fixes released already including solving some issues for AMD users

heres a few rough screenshots with the Lola at Barbagallo ( both DX11 ) and GT3 s at Nola (DX9 cars at DX 11 track ) and the Subaru GT300 at Atlanta ( DX9 car at DX11 track )' getting way better fps after last couple of updates, once they release a full version it will fantastic. Bit like when RF2 released at the moment but we all stuck with that.

Clouds seem to be a big hit for FPS as well. I lose about 50% once clouds form.
Screenshots look great
